ViaSpluga - Splendour and terror in the mountains

Tottering planks, narrow bridges, plung ing gorges: the mule track over the Splügen Pass was not for the fainthearted, even though for centuries it was one of the most important and best maintained transit routes in the whole of the Alpine region. Today the route is perfectly safe for hiking, but is still as breathtaking: natural wonders like the Viamala gorge complement cultural highlights like the church in Zillis with its painted ceiling and offer a feast for all the senses.
