ViaValtelllina - A wine linking three Alpine countries
For centuries the wine on the tables of Graubünden and Vorarlberg came mainly from the Valtellina. Wine was used to pay wages, to buy goods, to cure the body and to cheer the spirit. It had to be transported over three passes: in summer it came by mule and horse, in winter by ox and sledge. The old mule tracks have been brought back to life today as the ViaValtellina. To hike it is to experience the diversity of alpine culture in Austria, Switzerland and Italy – and to enjoy a unique wine.
